King of Spices” and “Red Gold”, Crocus sativus in Latin, Saffron in Polish. The ancient Persians and Egyptians used saffron as an aphrodisiac. The smell is intoxicating, reminiscent of the smell of hot air over a dying fire. There's something cooking about it. The pyramid of notes also includes piercing ginger and spicy nutmeg. The dot over the "i" is a bit of rose, which crowns the whole composition. Despite this wealth of ingredients, the leading role of saffron is indisputable.
